About Me: The Mosaic Maven
Hey there! I’m Kasey Rivas, the founder and principal consultant of Mosaic Maven Solutions, LLC. Welcome! As a seasoned public health professional, I’m passionate about driving impactful initiatives and championing health equity in ways that make a real difference in people’s lives. I'm dedicated to fairness in health and society and ready to implement diverse and imaginative approaches for our collaborative efforts!
The Adventure So Far...
My journey has been anything but ordinary. With a multifaceted background that includes program and grant management, coalition building, strategic planning, advocacy, large event planning, and research, I’m passionate about enhancing health outcomes for communities. Throughout my career, I’ve led large-scale statewide and national initiatives to advance equity and social justice in maternal and infant health. I’ve partnered with cross-sector organizations (large and small) to advocate for health equity policies at the local, state, and federal levels – and have loved every minute of it!
Promoting Health Equity Through Meaningful Engagement
Currently basking in the sunshine of Southern California, I am deeply engaged in various statewide committees dedicated to enhancing perinatal outcomes, elevating patient experiences, and incorporating community input to drive systems enhancements. With a solid grasp of the intricacies of healthcare systems, public health, and social services that uphold families, I bring a wealth of experience to the table. In my previous work in Washington, I spearheaded initiatives spanning WA, ID, and OR. These endeavors included strategic planning and yearly conferences shaped by insights from tribal community leaders, emphasizing the value of collaboration and cultural diversity to improve maternal and infant health outcomes for the tri-state tribal health region.
Nerd Alert: My Research Side
Before founding Mosaic Maven Solutions, I had an exciting stint as a Research Scientist at the University of Washington and University of Southern California. I coordinated global scientific projects, managed comprehensive databases, and contributed to over thirty publications in peer-reviewed journals. Yep, I’ve got a bit of a nerdy side, but this research background has given me with a solid understanding of data and how it can be leveraged to support the stories and lived experiences of communities to drive impactful change.
My Education
After 13 years in drug discovery and genetics research, I went back to school. My own pregnancy and birthing experience propelled my curiosity and desire to improve the patient experience. I had a difficult labor and delivery where I found myself confused and questioning what my body was telling me. In the end I am thankful to have had a healthy (and HUGE) baby boy!
With a baby and full time job in research, I earned my Master’s in Public Health from George Washington University. I also hold a dual Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from Whitworth University. In addition, I am an Advanced AGILE leader; and certified in Results-Based Facilitation, Results-Based Accountability, and Human-Centered Design. Learning is a lifelong journey, and I’m always eager to expand my knowledge and skills.
Let’s Connect!
Feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn! I’m always excited to meet new people and explore new opportunities for collaboration to make the world a healthier, happier place.
